Dark Horse, 2004 Zinfandel - Dry Creek Valley

OK..now here is one you are going to want to trust me on. In the words of Winemaker, Michael Loykasek, you can lead a horse to water but you can also push a mule to drink a great Zin. This 2004 Zinfandel is the real kick. The grapes were harvested from a hillside vineyard only a donkey would fall up. The trail winds through patches of blackberry, cherry and the occasional gooseberry bush. This Zinfandel was aged in 100% American oak – quite possibly from a tree in Daniel Boone's backyard. Like the nag in a horse race, the flavors just never finish. This wine pairs well with whatever's on the chuck wagon. At only $28 a bottle you should not have to think about this one for long. Get it while it lasts.
