Bluenose 2003 Dry Creek Zinfandel

I first noticed Paul Brasset and his partner John Green at one of those big tastings at Fort Mason in San Francisco....the fact that they were both wearing big, clownlike blue noses had something to do with the fact that they stood out in the crowd....and I thought to myself...not another wine gimmick....but then I tasted the wine!

Paul has occasional made his own wine, but this Zinfandel eclipses anything he has previously done. It just plain rocks!! It also takes Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel (already the benchmark for fine Zin) to another level. The fruit in this Zin comes from three excellent vineyards in Dry Creek Valley. Carreras Ranch, an 80 year old vineyard on the Dry Creek Bench, Taylor Vineyards, about 35 years old also on the Bench and Leila's Vineyard (a favorite of mine) in the heart of the Dry Creek Valley from Rockpile Road cuttings.

Only 350 cases were made - and only a small amount remains so grab it now! At my negotiated price for you at $23.00 per bottle it is a complete steal. This wine has it all....lots of fruit, concentrated flavors of black pepper, black raspberry and cassis-like aromas. The luscious flavors are rich and jammy with a touch of black cherry, cedar and just a bit of sweet oak at the finish.....
